Ladies Day at Ffos Las Racecourse this summer could well be one that sets new standards for style across the board, according to those behind the biggest annual social occasion in west Wales.
Not only will the August 23 event bring together the vocal talents of Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden in their current band, Boyzlife – with a blending of brilliant Boyzone and Westlife hits – but there is harmony when it comes to fashion, too.
For the first time, Ladies Day will feature style awards for the best dressed gentleman as well as the best dressed lady. Prize winners will pocket £500.
It’s a chance for the men to show their true personality through their smart attire and not just blend into the background.
“Why should the ladies have all the fun?” says Ffos Las general manager Kevin Hire.
“We know that we always attract some amazing style-setters when it comes to the ladies, but this day has become a big event for the gentlemen as well.
“So, there will be prizes for both this year and may the best man – and woman – win!
“Ladies Day has become huge in the social calendar and this year, with a fabulous band playing along with an excellent programme of racing, it promises to break all records.
“It’s great being able to announce that Boyzlife will be playing because it will create huge excitement. Even as early as November and December we get phone calls asking us what we are puting on for Ladies Day, so it’s wonderful when we can reveal our plans.”
Boyzlife are the band that grew out of two giant boy bands and include former Boyzone member Keith Duffy and Westlife’s Brian McFadden.
The pair will be performing live with a set that will feature all the hits from Boyzone and Westlife, who dominated the charts in the Nineties and Noughties.
They formed their current band in 2016, bringing together the musical talent that had earned them a combined 21 UK No.1 hits, and performances in front of millions around the world.
Ladies Day racegoers can relax with a glass of champagne, prosecco, or whatever takes their fancy whilst they admire the scorching summery dresses and sharp suits, the haberdashery of haute couture hats, and the festival of fascinating fascinators.
It’s a chance for friends to get together, get dressed up in their most eye-catching and boldest outfits, and enjoy a fabulous party atmosphere.
The doors will open for Ladies Day at 11.00am on Friday August 23, with the first of the seven races off at 1.40pm.
The final race will start at 4.30pm, after which Boyzlife will take to the stage.
